Complete NEET UG Counselling Roadmap

EduTrack guides you through every single step — from NEET result day to final college reporting. No confusion, no missed deadlines.

1

NEET UG Result — Check AIR & Category Rank

After results, note your All India Rank (AIR), Category Rank, State Rank and Percentile. All four numbers matter for different quota strategies.

💡 EduTrack Tip: Share your rank with us on WhatsApp immediately — we build your college list within 24 hours.
2

Document Preparation & Verification

Gather and self-attest all required documents. Category certificates (OBC/SC/ST/EWS), domicile, income certificate — must be verified BEFORE registration opens.

💡 Missing a certificate on deadline day = losing a round. EduTrack provides category-specific checklists.
3

MCC AIQ Registration (mcc.nic.in)

Register on the MCC portal, pay the registration fee (₹1,000 General / ₹500 SC/ST/PH), upload documents and verify. Deadline is typically 7-10 days after results.

💡 Register on Day 1 of registration opening — portal sometimes slows down near deadlines.
4

State Portal Registration (Parallel)

Simultaneously register on your state counselling portal. Each state has its own fee, documents and timeline. EduTrack manages both registrations for you.

5

Strategic Choice Filling — The Most Critical Step

Fill your college preference list in optimal order. Wrong ordering = losing a better seat. EduTrack builds your AIQ + State choice list simultaneously, based on 3-year cutoff analysis.

💡 Add 500–1000 choices. More choices = better safety net. Quality of order matters more than quantity.
6

Round 1 Seat Allotment — Accept, Upgrade or Resign?

Check your allotment. Three options: (a) Accept & freeze — no further upgradation, (b) Accept & upgrade — keep seat but try for better in Round 2, (c) Resign — only if you have a better seat elsewhere. EduTrack advises the best move in real time.

💡 Never resign without a confirmed backup. "Accept & Upgrade" is the safest move in most cases.
7

Mop-up & Stray Vacancy Rounds

After Round 2, vacant seats go to Mop-up and Stray Vacancy rounds. Cutoffs often drop significantly. These rounds are golden for students who missed in earlier rounds.

8

Final Reporting at College

Pay the semester/annual fee online, report to the allotted college with original documents, and complete joining formalities within the deadline. EduTrack prepares you completely for this step.

💡 Carry at least 10 sets of all documents. Some colleges ask for more copies than expected.

FAQ

NEET UG Counselling — Common Questions

Yes — this is highly recommended. MCC AIQ counselling and your state counselling are separate processes with separate portals. Participating in both maximises your seat options. However, once you accept and freeze a seat in AIQ, you cannot participate in state counselling (and vice versa in some states). EduTrack guides you on the exact timing and strategy.
"Freeze" means you accept your allotted seat permanently — no further upgradation. "Float" means you keep your current seat but want to upgrade to a higher-preference college in Round 2. "Slide" means you want to upgrade within the same college (e.g. different course). EduTrack advises the best option based on your allotment and remaining choices.
After Round 2, seats that are still vacant go to a Mop-up round. Cutoffs in Mop-up are usually lower than Round 1 and Round 2 — making it a great opportunity for students who missed earlier. However, only certain categories of students are eligible for Mop-up (those who did not accept any seat earlier, typically). EduTrack monitors Mop-up eligibility and cutoffs for you.
EduTrack builds your personalised preference list using 3-year closing rank data from MCC and state authorities. We create a dual list — AIQ choices + State quota choices — ordered by probability of allotment at each rank band. We account for your category, state domicile, budget and college type preferences.
